
Daniel Chinkhuntha
Daniel Chinkuntha is a prominent Malawian Agroecologist with over 26 years of experience in sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
As the manager of Tikondwe Freedom Gardens, an organic farm enterprise that promotes food sovereignty and economic welfare, Daniel has overseen its operations since 2007. The farm has welcomed individuals and groups from various backgrounds for research, academic studies, learning events, and visits driven by admiration.
Throughout his career, Daniel has collaborated extensively with farmers, academics, researchers, and policymakers to develop and implement innovative sustainable farming strategies. His expertise includes soil health, agroforestry, integrated pest management, climate-resilient agriculture, water management, and landscape planning for sustainable development.
Daniel’s work has been widely published in local newspapers, with his most recently qauted in the article, “Building Resilience Among Vulnerable Farmers,” appearing in the June 2024 issue of the Daily Times. He has also authored the “Tikondwe Freedom Gardens Permaculture Training Manual” and “The Making of Tikondwe Freedom Gardens: A History of Tikondwe Freedom Gardens.” Additionally, he has spoken at conferences, including those organized by the Sustainable Futures Global Network and the Participatory Land Use Management (PELUM).
He is affiliated with several organisations, including the Sustainable Futures Global Network, Permaculture Network Malawi, and Malawi Organic Growers Association (MOGA), among others.
Born in Lilongwe and raised at Tikondwe Freedom Gardens, Daniel has dedicated his life to advancing sustainable agricultural practices and environmental stewardship.
