Amanda Douge
Actress, writer and scholar, Amanda Douge brings her arts experience and passion to the polycrisis facing both earth systems and humanity. Her practice-based climate research is gathering a growing audience across Norway, Scotland, Ireland, U.S.A, Australia and England. Amanda successfully combines her critical scholarship with her arts background, presenting research in entertaining, moving, sometimes hilarious, and impactful artistic forms.
A Doctoral candidate with the University of Glasgow, Amanda’s creative and critical thesis interrogates the ways in which poetic syntax can activate political agency for the purposes of climate revolution. She deconstructs inherited, carbon infrastructures through poetics and critical theory, reflecting on and synthesizing political economy, climate sociology, neurobiology, ecological imperatives and social transformation.
An experienced teacher, workshop facilitator and theatre director, Amanda is interested in performance as a climate pedagogy in both community, research and arts settings.
