
Priscilla Achakpa
Dr Priscilla M. Achakpa is the founder and Executive Director of Women Environmental Programme (WEP) in Nigeria which currently has offices in Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso, Tunisia and USA. She has over eighteen years of experience in development work, gender issues, research and documentation, resource mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, conflict intervention and peacebuilding, negotiations, labour activism and poverty reduction intervention programmes.
Currently, her NGO has United Nations ECOSOC Consultative Special Status, Observer status to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Organizing Partner (OP) Women’s Major Groups representing Africa on the 2030Agenda at UN processes.
Priscilla has held many positions at national and international levels and is a member of different development bodies across the globe. She is also a recipient of several awards and a member of different Professional Associations & Networks. She is an Ashoka Fellow, the National Coordinator for Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) and the Regional Focal Point for the West Africa-Global Environmental Facility (GEF CSO-Network, a member of the African Working Group on Gender and Climate Change (AWGGCC) etc.
Priscilla holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Business Engineering and Management, Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2017, M. SC Development Studies, Benue State University, Nigeria 2013, Higher National Diploma, Business Administration and Management Studies, Kaduna Polytechnic, 1997, Post Graduate Diploma, Business and Management Studies 1998.
